What Is CryoProbe?
Unlike traditional surgery, cryotherapy is a procedure that involves the application of intense cold to freeze and remove abnormal tissue from the skin. It requires less recovery time and causes less discomfort than using a scalpel to cut out lesions.
CryoProbe is a cutting-edge form of cryotherapy that optimizes results while reducing inconvenience. It kills unwanted cells without causing harm to the surrounding, healthy skin tissue.
How Does CryoProbe Work?
The CryoProbe device resembles a pen and includes a canister of liquid nitrogen that can be applied directly to an unwanted lesion, rapidly freezing it. The very high pressure of the gas allows us to target the deep layers of skin to reach the bottom of the lesion, not just the surface. Abnormal cells are not able to survive the extreme temperature and die off, resulting in the gradual clearing away of the killed cells and a restoration of smoother and more even skin tone and texture. Different applicator tips can be used to target lesions of varying sizes and shapes.
What Can CryoProbe Treat?
The providers at Skin Klinic & Day Spa use CryoProbe to treat several types of benign skin lesions, including some sunspots and certain types of benign keratoses. We do not treat moles or precancerous lesions or viral growths (like warts or molluscum contagiosum) with the cryoprobe. We defer to a medical dermatology provider for further evaluation and treatment of these types of skin concerns.

Why Choose Skin Klinic & Day Spa for CryoProbe?
The licensed and experienced registered nurses at Skin Klinic & Day Spa have extensive training with cryotherapy for removal of skin lesions. They take a caring, comprehensive, and personalized approach to each aesthetic procedure and ensure that the treatment suits the patient.
What Is the CryoProbe Experience at Skin Klinic & Day Spa?
CryoProbe is a simple, straightforward procedure that is typically completed very quickly. A session usually lasts no more than a few minutes. Local anesthesia is used to numb the skin before the liquid nitrogen is applied.
The treated lesion will eventually turn red, blister, and peel off, allowing new skin to grow in its place once the immune system disposes of the dead cells.
What Can I Expect from CryoProbe Recovery and Results?
Patients can safely resume all their typical daily activities right after having this treatment. They may experience mild discomfort that goes away after a few days, but—much like skin resurfacing procedures—sun protection will be critical while the skin is healing, since it will be more susceptible to damage. Cells killed by the treatment are gone for good, though some patients may require additional treatments for chronic or recurring skin disorders. No special follow-up care will be needed.

What Other Skin Rejuvenation Treatments Are Available?
CryoProbe is one way of addressing skin lesions, but Skin Klinic & Day Spa also provides other skin resurfacing treatments, including laser skin revitalization, chemical peels, and dermabrasion—all suitable for enhancing the overall color, tone, and texture of the skin. Wrinkle relaxers such as BOTOX® make skin smoother by reducing contractions in facial muscles, while hyaluronic acid-based Juvéderm® or Restylane® facial fillers add volume to plump and lift the skin as a way of reducing wrinkles or reshaping facial contours.
