Xeomin® and Jeuveau

Wrinkles result from a combination of many factors. It’s not just about cellular changes, collagen depletion, or damage caused by free radicals. When you frown or concentrate, the muscles between your brows contract, causing your skin to furrow and fold. Using Xeomin® and Jeuveau, Rockland, Maine’s Skin Klinic & Day Spa can target those underlying muscles to temporarily reduce their activity, creating beautiful, youthful, and natural-looking results.

Our registered nurses are highly experienced with both Xeomin® and Jeuveau, as well as a range of injectables, which allows them to select the ideal option for each patient. The Skin Klinic & Day Spa team combines an in-depth knowledge of facial anatomy with a caring approach designed to truly connect with you to provide safe, comfortable, and effective treatments.

What Are Xeomin® and Jeuveau?

Xeomin® and Jeuveau are known as “neuromodulators,” a family of cosmetic treatments that also includes BOTOX®. These neuromodulators work by blocking signals that cause facial muscles to contract. Since active forehead muscles are the reason motion-related lines (dynamic wrinkles) form, reducing that activity also reduces the visible signs of aging.

It is important to understand that Xeomin® and Jeuveau do not “freeze” your face. They do not stop all—or even many—muscles from working properly. Instead, these injectables relax the specific muscles where they are injected. By focusing on carefully targeted muscles in the forehead, the Skin Klinic & Day Spa team can temporarily smooth out the frown lines that resemble a “number 11” between the eyebrows. The effects wear off after time, allowing muscle activity to resume normally.

XEOMIN®

Most neuromodulators are made with proteins attached to the active ingredient, which means they need to be refrigerated. Xeomin® is unique, in that it is made without these accessory proteins—earning it the nickname “the naked injectable.” Some patients find a room-temperature Xeomin® treatment to be more comfortable than injections that are cold. The lack of proteins in Xeomin® also means patients are less likely to build up a “resistance” to the treatment’s effects. Xeomin® results can last for two to four months.

JEUVEAU

Other wrinkle-smoothing neuromodulators began as medical treatments, but Jeuveau is the first such injectable to have been developed specifically for cosmetic use. Its design allows it to start working a bit sooner than similar treatments, as well as last longer before wearing off. Jeuveau results can last for up to five months under ideal circumstances.

Once muscle activity begins to return to the forehead, frown lines will also begin to become more apparent and severe. The Skin Klinic & Day Spa team can help you to develop a treatment plan that allows you to maintain the look you want.

Why Choose Skin Klinic & Day Spa for Xeomin® and Jeuveau?

Our experienced, licensed, certified, and qualified registered nurses are trained in medical aesthetics and handle every treatment at Skin Klinic & Day Spa, from start to finish. You will meet with one for your consultation to determine whether Xeomin®, Jeuveau, or another treatment is best for you, and the injections themselves are handled by our focused professionals. This is different from salons offering injections from people who studied hair care, as well as doctor’s offices that primarily focus on health while offering cosmetic services on the side.

Our entire goal is to safely and effectively rejuvenate your appearance.

What Is the Injectable Experience at Skin Klinic & Day Spa?

In addition to being effective wrinkle relaxers, Xeomin® and Jeuveau have the added benefit of being administered quickly. It does not take long—about the length of a typical lunch break—for the Skin Klinic & Day Spa registered nurses to properly perform the treatment.

Patients tend to say that a pinching sensation accompanies each injection, but that the feeling is easy to tolerate. We will talk about this in more detail during your consultation, which is also when we can go over strategies for reducing discomfort.

What Can I Expect from Recovery and Results After Xeomin® and Jeuveau?

Common side effects of any injectable treatment include treatment-site redness, swelling, and discomfort, as well as possible slight bruising. These can all be managed as desired, but will naturally fade on their own.

Depending on your neuromodulator of choice, muscle activity will begin to slow over a few—or even just a couple—days, then begin to return after months have gone by.

What Else Can Treat Facial Lines?

Age-related collagen loss creates facial wrinkles not associated with muscle contractions, so neuromodulators like Xeomin® would not work well to address these lines. Patients who want to treat their smile lines and similar creases can choose from the Juvéderm® or Restylane® families. Skin Klinic & Day Spa also offers the RHA® Collection, made up of dermal fillers designed to smooth out lines in higher-activity areas.
