QWO®

Smooth the Dimpled Look of Cellulite on the Buttocks in Rockland, Maine

Model

QWO®

Many people mistakenly think that cellulite is caused by fat. Actually, it isn’t—which is why losing weight won’t make the cottage-cheese-like skin texture go away. In fact, there is little you can do to improve the appearance of skin dimpled with cellulite without help from a specialized treatment, such as QWO®. Rockland, Maine’s Skin Klinic & Day Spa uses this injectable to give patients smoother buttocks, all without making any incisions.

The team of registered nurses at Skin Klinic & Day Spa is committed to helping patients achieve their cosmetic goals, which includes education on what causes certain conditions. Understanding the source of cellulite—which is a problem most women and some men will deal with in life—helps when it comes to deciding what to do about it.

What Is QWO®?

First, the education: Cellulite is not a problem of having too much fat, but is the result of fat cells pushing against each other and creating tension in areas where cords of collagen connect the underside of the skin’s surface to layers below. These cords, known as fibrous septae, are like tough threads pulling down on an otherwise smooth sheet of fabric. Any place a cord attaches and creates tension, a small dimple will form in the skin—especially if the skin has become thinner with age.
Losing weight can shrink the fat cells and relieve some of that tension, but it can’t make the problem go away. QWO® can. Other methods for addressing cellulite involve inserting blades to physically sever the fibrous septae and release the tension. QWO® presents a different option by using collagenase clostridium histolyticum, a special chemical, to accomplish three things:

• It breaks down the fibrous septae, “cutting” them with enzymes instead of a scalpel.
• It reorganizes the fat so that the cells aren’t grouped into bunches and segmented by the cords.
• It encourages collagen production to thicken the skin and reduce contour irregularities.

Together, these three reactions thought to be triggered by QWO® injections are referred to as “enzymatic subcision and remodeling.” With the fat cells allowed to even out to a more uniform level and the tough cords of collagen broken down to no longer pull on the skin, dimpling becomes less severe. Buttocks once marked by an orange peel-like texture instead become smoother.

Why Choose Skin Klinic & Day Spa for QWO®?

Every licensed and certified registered nurse at Skin Klinic & Day Spa has significant experience with injectables and a focus on safely administering treatments to create natural-looking results. This is not a “side gig” offered at a salon, but is our daily focus. We have studied, trained, and repeatedly administered highly researched treatments like QWO® using advanced techniques for a diverse range of patients.

What Is the QWO® Experience at Skin Klinic & Day Spa?

Most of us have some padding where QWO® will be injected, so the treatment is typically well tolerated. The injections tend to feel like nothing more than slight pinches, and we can desensitize the area with ice or other strategies for anyone who wants to be as comfortable as possible.

What Can I Expect in Terms of Recovery and Results After QWO®?

QWO® injections can cause some redness and tenderness in the area, so although the treatment requires no downtime, you’ll want to be aware of how you sit in the days after your session. The injections also tend to cause bruising that gradually fades over the following weeks.

Results from a QWO® treatment should be visible after about 10 weeks. An ideal skin appearance may require three separate injection sessions spaced 21 days apart.
