Kybella®
Fat can be stubborn. That’s why a double chin can be so difficult to get rid of. Even if you diet consistently and exercise with a goal of losing weight, you can still deal with an isolated pocket of fat that hides your neck and gives you a rounded instead of defined profile. Using injectable Kybella®, Skin Klinic & Day Spa’s registered nurses can specifically target this fat, reducing a double chin and creating a more sculpted look.

Kybella® is a powerful treatment, which is why our injectors have studied and trained to administer it safely and properly. To ensure it’s the ideal approach for you, we will first meet with you and go over your goals—as well as examine you under-chin area. Together, we will develop a plan designed to maximize your long-term results.
What Is Kybella®?
Your body uses a chemical known as deoxycholic acid to break down the fat you eat, and that same chemical is what makes Kybella® such an effective fat-reduction treatment. When deoxycholic acid encounters fat cells, it basically “pops” them by rupturing the cell membrane. Your body then works to process the material inside, clearing it out of the area and leading to a reduction in volume.
Kybella® was designed and FDA approved for use on double chins because this region of the neck, known as the submental area, is a common place for fat cells to resist the shrinking efforts of both diet and exercise—even if love handles, a beer belly, and other bulky areas of the body slim down.
Injections are made directly into the pocket of submental fullness, after which the deoxycholic acid begins its work.

What Is the Kybella® Experience at Skin Klinic & Day Spa?
While treatments like BOTOX® or RHA® by Revance® involve a few injections, Kybella® requires numerous injections made below the chin. In order to minimize discomfort, we offer options for desensitizing the area, including a prescription topical cream and nitrous oxide. The session itself lasts only 15 to 20 minutes.

What Can I Expect in Terms of Recovery and Results After Kybella®?
Kybella® gets to work right away, but the results are gradual, as it takes time for the body to break down the fat cells. In the days after a session, there will be some swelling and bruising in the treatment area, as well as possible pain, numbness, and areas of hardness. The skin will soon look and feel like normal again.
Volume reduction takes place over weeks and months—and the best part is that fat cells cleared away by Kybella® do not ever need to be re-treated. They are gone for good.
Some people have the look of a double chin, but due to lax skin as opposed to excess fat cells. For these patients, skin tightening with Morpheus8 RF microneedling can be beneficial.
