Juvederm®
One of the most well-known injectable treatments in the world is Juvederm®. Rockland, Maine’s Skin Klinic & Day Spa uses the family of dermal fillers to restore facial volume lost as a person ages. By smoothing out the resulting “static wrinkles” and providing renewed structure and roundness to the face, Juvederm® can create a lasting and more youthful look that’s unique to you.

Every session is based on a commitment to maintaining patient safety and comfort throughout the process of providing beautifully natural-looking results.
What Is Juvederm®?
Collagen is a protein molecule with many roles in the body. For the skin, it creates internal structures that provide both support and resilience, among other benefits. Unfortunately, age-related collagen loss is a reality—and a significant problem for anyone who wants to maintain smooth skin and full, youthful facial contours.
Hyaluronic acid molecules also drop in numbers over time. Since HA is responsible for maintaining hydration and moisture, its loss creates drier conditions that further reveal the effects of volume loss.
Juvederm® is an injectable dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid molecules, which link together to create a sturdy but pliable gel ideal for “standing in” for that lost collagen. Not only does the gel serve the volume-providing function of collagen, but the HA molecules pull in and hold onto moisture, giving the skin a healthier and fuller smoothness.
At Skin Klinic & Day Spa, our registered nurses offer four different types of Juvederm® filler, each made in a slightly different way to create a unique gel ideal for specific purposes:
Juvederm® XC
“The original,” this formulation was first given approval by the FDA in 2006, making it a tried and trusted option for anyone seeking to address moderate to severe smile lines and similar wrinkles or folds in the mouth and nose area.
Juvederm® Voluma
A thicker formulation, Voluma is used for “heavy lifting.” Commonly injected to restore roundness to the apples of the cheeks and fill in facial hollows, it more recently gained FDA approval for chin augmentation as well.
Juvederm® Volbella
Focusing on the mouth area, Volbella can be used to “plump up” the lips, as well as to smooth out lines and wrinkles that radiate from the mouth.
Juvederm® Vollure
Similar to the injectable that started it all in this family, Vollure is used to reduce the severity of parentheses lines and similar wrinkles near the mouth, but has a more robust formulation that can provide longer-lasting results.
Juvederm® XC’s skin-smoothing benefits and Volbella’s lip enhancing effects can be expected to last about a year, while Vollure lasts 18 months, and Voluma can last for up to two years in the cheeks and one year in the chin.

Why Choose Skin Klinic & Day Spa for Juvederm?
While many injectables may seem the same—even within the Juvederm® family—the fact is that each treatment offered at Skin Klinic & Day Spa is unique and provides specific results. Our licensed and certified registered nurses understand the sometimes-subtle differences between each filler and can custom-tailor a cosmetic plan to best benefit you, the patient—always with safety and comfort in mind.
What Is the Juvederm® Experience at Skin Klinic & Day Spa?
Just about every patient we’ve seen has tolerated the injection process well. For those who want a little help in managing the sensation of the injections themselves—which have been described as feeling like a brief pinch to the skin—we offer numbing options. In all, the filler process takes about the same amount of time as a standard lunch break.
What Can I Expect from Recovery and Results After a Juvederm® Treatment?
Treatment sessions don’t last long, and neither do the possible side effects, which include injection-site tenderness and redness, as well as possible slight bruising and swelling. All of these sensations should be expected to go away on their own.
Juvederm® provides volume that can be seen in the mirror as soon as a session is over. There is no need to wait for results.
