Microblading

If your eyebrows seem thinner than they used to—or they appear imbalanced because one is thicker than the other—the problem could be due to a variety of causes, including physical trauma, nutritional deficiencies, emotional stress, hormonal changes, infections, and other skin conditions. Eyebrow pencils and gels can be expensive solutions, as well as time-consuming to apply and repetitive since they wear off very quickly. Microblading at Rockland, Maine’s Skin Klinic & Day Spa, however, is a long-lasting treatment that creates the appearance of fuller, sculpted brows.

Microblading treatments are performed by registered nurses on the Skin Klinic & Day Spa team. All are highly experienced with a wide range of skincare and beauty treatments.

Microblading is a method of making eyebrows appear fuller. The goal is to create the look of eyebrows that have no sparse or thin patches, as well as the best eyebrow for your face shape, symmetry, and features. Tiny, natural-looking individual hair strokes are manually made with precision in the skin using a specialized handheld needle or blade. Microblading doesn’t pierce the skin as deeply as a tattoo needle would. Instead, it goes in just enough to add a small amount of pigment to the epidermis—the outer layer of skin.

Why Choose Skin Klinic & Day Spa for Microblading?

The licensed and certified registered nurses handling treatments at Skin Klinic & Day Spa tailor each microblading treatment to the preferences of the patient and can design them to be as light or bold as you want them to be. In other words, they take a personalized approach to microblading. After working with the patient to determine the ideal eyebrow shape during an initial consultation, they will show color swatches and help choose a color that is the same as their natural hair color and goes with their skin undertone.

What Is the Microblading Experience at Skin Klinic & Day Spa?

The treatment begins after the skin has been cleaned and numbed with a topical ointment. Patients usually won’t feel any discomfort apart from the sensation of small scratches against the surface. People tend to say that the sensation feels similar to eyebrow threading.

The entire procedure can be completed within an hour or less—it usually takes between 30 to 40 minutes—so you can have it done during a lunchbreak. The specific duration depends how thick or light you want your eyebrows to appear.

What Can I Expect from Recovery and Results After Microblading?

While there aren’t any major side effects associated with microblading, aftercare is important. After this eyebrow treatment, it’s recommended that patients avoid getting their eyebrows wet or sweaty for at least a week so that they can keep the pigment protected while also maintaining clean and bacteria-free skin on the areas where the marks have been made. Wearing sunscreen is also critical for extending the lifespan of this treatment.

Allow your skin to heal completely before using active skin products or applying makeup on the eyebrow area. Unlike a normal tattoo, the color added to the skin during microblading eventually wears off—typically within 18 months—when your body metabolizes the pigment. The results last between one to three years, on average.

What Are Some Other Available Cosmetic Treatments?

Skin Klinic & Day Spa provides injectable fillers, such as the hyaluronic acid-based Juvéderm® and Restylane® families, for patients who want to add volume to their skin as a way of filling in static wrinkles or hollow areas that have lost collagen, or to plump the lips and cheeks. The RHA® Collection is made up of fillers that are designed for areas of the face where there is a lot of muscle activity.

Unlike fillers, neuromodulators like BOTOX®, Xeomin®, and Jeuveau™ relax muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles.

Chemical peels are available to improve overall tone and texture issues along with wrinkles. These work by exfoliating the face to remove older and damaged skin, prompt regenerative healing, and reveal younger skin.
